Dr. Mathew McDougall is recognized worldwide as a leading expert on online advertising and online marketing analytics. He brings 18 years of professional experience in Internet, wireless, new media, and software sectors. Dr. McDougall founded the SinoTech Group of companies in Beijing. Having already developed relationships with many of China’s largest websites and online Publishers, he was intent on promoting an end-to-end digital advertising solutions to Internet Publishers and Advertisers. The SinoTech Group consists of three companies; SinoTech Media, SinoTech Search and SinoTech Digital.
He has done business internationally in 12 countries and is seasoned in strategy, international sales and marketing, and general management. He has built high-performing teams and hundreds of corporate relationships with leading online publishers, enterprises, media, and venture capital firms — across Asia Pacific (Greater China, India, Japan, Korea & Australasia) and the US. Dr McDougall brings strategic acumen and execution prowess across Asia, Australia and Silicon Valley.
Most notably, he worked with TIBCO Software; as a pre-IPO company and subsequent as a listed company on the NASDAQ. Dr McDougall worked as global director, based in Palo Alto, California, where he established a global Services group across eight countries. He then worked as VP for Brience Inc., a Pre-IPO broadband and wireless company based in San Francisco that received $200 million in VC funding to globalise the technology. Following this, Mathew served as the VP of Business Integration (APAC) for Sterling Commerce (subsidiary of SBC), incubating a new product line in Asia.
After returning to Australia, Mathew worked at Mooter Search; a pre-IPO, start-up. His charter from the Board was to commercialise the company and prepare it for Venture funding. Mooter Search secured Venture Capital, renamed to Mooter Media Limited and subsequently listed on the Australian stock exchange (ASX:MMZ). Mathew was responsible for strategic planning and operational execution. He established operations in Australia, Japan, Korea and China. During his tenure at Mooter Media, he spent a majority of his time based in Beijing, China.
Mathew has a Masters degree from Westminster University, London and has his PhD from Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane; studying in the School of Maths, Science and Technology. He has also taught e-Business in the School of Business and Law at Newcastle University.
